The official results had not been tabulated by 11:40 p.m., but according to Norwalk Town Clerk Rick McQuaid, Duff garnered better than 60 percent of the vote.
Duff, a Norwalk resident, was seeking his fifth term as state senator. He is assistant majority leader in the Senate and is chairman of the Banks Committee. Duff also is vice chairman of the Energy & Technology and Transportation committees, and he is a member of the Appropriations Committee. A Realtor, Duff is also a former state representative who served the 137th District.
Chiaramonte is chairman of the Norwalk Board of Education, serving on the board since 2007. Chiaramonte founded the New York Ray’s Pizza chain and the North Washington Street-based SoNo Silver Co. Chiaramonte’s name also appeared on the Independent line of the ballot.
