Worker Stops Attempted Burglary At Norwalk Deli

NORWALK, Conn. – A man working late at the Merrittview Deli on Main Avenue scared off two would-be burglars trying to smash their way through the store's front door early Thursday, police report.

Police gave the following account: The man was working on a computer at the deli at around 2 a.m. when he noticed a white pickup truck pull into the parking lot. He paid it no mind until he heard a loud bang a few minutes later.

He went to the front door and found it smashed with a rock. Two men were outside trying to kick in the rest of the door. The man yelled out, and the duo turned and got back into their truck. The man told police that they drove off in the direction of Wilton.
