NORWALK, Conn. An intoxicated Norwalk man who was asked to leave the Post Road Diner early Friday because of his unruly behavior instead began to fight with the manager, Norwalk Police said.
His friend, who was also intoxicated, jumped to his aid, according to Officer Carleton Giles. Other patrons came to the defense of the manager and both men were subsequently arrested.
Franklin Eaton, 20, of 302 Flax Hill Road, and Christopher Suarez, 20, of 7 Kellee Drive, were in a booth with another person and were giving the waiter a hard time, Giles said. The manager asked them to pay their tab and leave. Eaton knocked dishes off a counter and began to fight with the manager, Giles said. Suarez jumped out of the booth and joined in, but when other patrons got involved Eaton, Suarez and the other person went out the back door.
Police were called at 1:55 a.m. and Officer Jermaine Nash spotted Eaton in back of Best Buy and caught him after a foot pursuit, Giles said. Eaton told police he had been jumped by a group of men and that was all he would say, Giles said. He refused medical attention.
Giles did not have any information on how Suarez was apprehended. The third person, who was not giving the waiter a hard time and did not join in the fight, was hiding behind a bush, Giles said.
Eaton and Suarez were charged with breach of peace, second degree and criminal mischief,third degree. Suarez was also charged with interfering with an officer. Bond for each was $500.
