Members of the Strategic Narcotics Enforcement Team stopped Jeffrey Slinsky, 35, of 147 Charles St., Bridgeport, at 7 p.m. Wednesday on South Main Street at Monroe Street because his vehicle had no front license plate, police said.
When officers approached the vehicle, they smelled a strong odor of marijuana emanating from the interior, police said.
Once out of the vehicle, the driver, Slinsky, said he had marijuana in possession, police said.
Officers seized a bag containing 14.88 grams of marijuana that Slinsky had hidden down the front of his pants, police said. Officers then located a 9mm handgun concealed just below the steering column in the car, police said.
Slinksy, who is a convicted felon, was placed under arrest at the scene, police said.
He was charged with criminal possession of a firearm, weapon in a motor vehicle, carrying a pistol without a permit, possession of marijuana with intent to sell within 1,500 feet of a school, possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to display a front plate. He was held on $100,000 bond.
