The boat’s owner reported the burglary June 5, police said. A window screen on the boat had been cut open, and it appeared the suspect damaged the boat’s door on the way out, police said.
A 46-inch flat-screen TV, with an estimated value of $800 to $1,600, was reported stolen, police said. The damage to the boat cost an estimated $1,500 to repair, according to police reports.
Investigators found latent fingerprints at the scene, which were sent to the Connecticut State Forensic Science Lab for analysis. This week, the lab contacted Norwalk Police with a positive hit in its database, naming Fabian Lugo, 22, of West Cedar Street as the suspect, police said. Lugo was arrested at his home Wednesday.
Lugo was charged with third-degree burglary, fourth-degree larceny and first-degree criminal mischief. His bond was set at $15,000, and he is due in court on Sept. 26.
