The 15 burglaries were reported at 12 different homes in the area near Ponus Ridge Middle School between Monday night and early Tuesday morning, police said. In all cases, the cars had been left unlocked in driveways overnight, according to the police reports.
The burglaries were reported on New Canaan Avenue, Coachmans Court, Ponus Avenue, Cornwall Road, Maher Drive, Norvel Road and Rebel Street. The incidents all occurred within about a mile of each other, according to reports filed Tuesday.
The items stolen included GPS systems, a purse-style wallet containing a small amount of cash and identification, an iPhone 4 and a power tool. Items were not stolen from every car involved in the burglaries, but all 15 cars showed signs that they had been searched, police said.
Norwalk Police advised residents to lock their doors and remove all valuables from view when leaving a car unattended. These incidents were still under investigation.
