NORWALK, Conn. -- A Shelton man was arrested Thursday after accidentally shooting himself at a movie theater in Norwalk last month, according to police.

At around 11 p.m. on Sept. 8, police responded to the Bow Tie Cinemas on Westport Avenue in Norwalk on a report of a man who had negligently shot himself in the leg. Arriving officers located 51-year-old Theo Thomopoulos of Shelton, who was inside the lobby suffering from a single gunshot wound to the leg, police said.

Officers seized a 9 mm handgun from Thomopoulos, who was taken to Norwalk Hospital for treatment, police said. Nobody else was injured during the incident.

An arrest warrant was issued for Thomopoulos, who turned himself in to Norwalk Police on Thursday. He was charged with unlawful discharge of a firearm, second-degree reckless endangerment, and second-degree breach of peace. His bond was set at $25,000.
