Police had attempted to arrest a man at around 12:30 p.m. on a warrant for narcotics sales, but he had fled on foot in the area of Michael Street, the Hour reported. As police searched for him, Brookside School and Brien McMahon High School were briefly placed on lockout, according to the Hour.
Police searched the area of Lenox Avenue, Soundview Avenue, Auburn Street and Edgewood Street for the suspect, and briefly lost sight of him before he was eventually taken into custody on Lenox Avenue, according to the Hour.
Norwalk Public Schools said in a statement Wednesday afternoon that the lockout was done as a precaution and was lifted after just a few minutes. Inside the buildings it was business as usual, and there was no interruption to instruction.
