Tripathi, 22, went missing from his apartment on Angell Street in Providence on March 16. The newly released footage shows a man matching his description walking south on nearby Brook Street at 1:33 a.m. March 16, about 20 minutes after his last recorded computer activity.
Tripathi is 6 feet tall and weighs 130 pounds. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a black Eastern Mountain Sports ski jacket, glasses and a Philadelphia Eagles wool hat. He left his apartment without his wallet, ID or cellphone.
The FBI has joined in the search. Tripathi's family has been in Rhode Island since his disappearance, posting fliers, visiting neighborhoods and garnering media attention. A Facebook page devoted to the search has more than a million views and nearly 5,000 likes. A Twitter account has also been established to aid in the search.
Tripathi grew up in Radnor, Pa., and has lived in Providence since 2008. He was struggling with depression and took a year off from Brown, where he studied philosophy. He is a talented musician and has been described by his family as "a kind, gentle and shy young man." When he last spoke to family and friends the day before he disappeared, he gave no indication of any abnormal behavior.
Anybody who has seen Tripathi or has any information is asked to contact the Providence Police Department at 401-243-6191.
