A conductor warned passengers of a man acting strangely when he ripped off his shirt and sliced at his chest, the Post said.
The retired trooper, a part-time Prospect police officer, pulled out his handgun, and the man with the knife hit the floor of the train, the Post said.
The man was taken off the train at the Rowayton station, put on a gurney and placed in an ambulance, the Post said.
