Police said that on Thursday, Nov. 30, Officer Stephen Cowf observed a motor vehicle violation on Couch Street in Norwalk and pulled the car over. When he stopped the car, he could smell the odor of marijuana coming from the car, police said.
The driver, 24-year-old Miguel Ramirez, said that he was in possession of a firearm, and officers seized a Smith & Wesson 9mm from his person, according to police. K-9 Kai was called to the scene and indicated the presence of drugs in the car, police said.
Officers located and seized marijuana and packaging materials from the car, along with a bulletproof vest that was found in the trunk, according to police. Ramirez had a valid pistol permit, was but charged with a number of drug violations, including possession with intent to sell, possession of more than a half-ounce of cannabis, possession of a controlled substance, possession within 1,500 feet of a school, and possession of drug paraphernalia, as well as second-degree failure to appear and tinted glass violations. His bond was set at $2,295 and he was given a court date of Dec. 14.
