Rory Bernier, 50, of James Street, contacted an undercover officer with the Norwalk Police Special Services Division and arranged to purchase a package of heroin, police said. Bernier asked for 10 bags of the drug, according to the arrest report.
The officer met Bernier in the parking lot of a Connecticut Avenue business at about 9:30 a.m. Tuesday. The officer brought bags of imitation heroin, designed to look like the real drug but with none of the effects, police said. Bernier believed he was buying the actual heroin, and even sampled some of the product, according to police reports.
Bernier was arrested at the scene and charged with attempted possession of narcotics, with an added charge of being within 1,500 feet of a school. His bond was set at $100,000 bond, and he is due in court on Dec. 12.
