He saw suspicious activity in the area of 57 Chestnut St. and approached in his vehicle, police said.
The officer saw a man in a white Toyota speaking to a juvenile girl, but the man drove away quickly as Sellas got closer, police said.
The girl told the officer that the man had asked her to get into the car, police said.
The officer stopped the vehicle and identified the driver as Angel Jiminez-Barzallo, 32, of 15 Prospect St., police said.
The Special Victims Unit tok control of the investigation and determined that Jiminez-Barzallo had grabbed the juvenile’s wrist and hand during this incident and had only let go when he saw the police car, police said.
Special Victims Unit Detective Tim Marquis obtained an arrest warrant for Jiminez-Barzallo.
He was arrested Wednesday; charged with risk of injury to a minor and breach of peace; and held on $50,000 court-set bond.
Jiminez-Barzallo has a court date of April 28.
