NORWALK, Conn. -- A Norwalk woman was charged with setting fires in a parking lot Sunday night, according to police.
Angela Umpierre, 25, was charged with reckless burning, criminal mischief, third-degree assault and interfering with an officer. She was held on $20,000 bond and will appear in court June 29.
Officers were called to the parking lot of the Office Cafe in Liberty Square at 10:30 p.m. Sunday on a report of a person in the parking lot lighting fires, police said. When officers arrived, they found Umpierre in the lot, setting pieces of paper on fire, according to police reports.
She appeared to be under the influence of drugs, police said.
The officers told her to stop but she refused, according to police reports. They walked after her, and she threw a lighter at them, police said. She still refused to stop, police said, and was eventually taken into custody.
