Norwalk Police Officer David Peterson had to wrestle Katherine Norwood to the ground after she refused to stop yelling obscenities and aggressively pointing at the patrolman while complaining that AT&T workmen were on her property replacing a telephone pole, according to Sgt. Lisa Cotto.
Peterson was working an overtime assignment at the scene to direct traffic when the flare-up erupted just before noon, police said.
Norwood came out of her house on Cook Street, complaining that the pole replacement was taking place on her property, which she said she did not authorize, police said. Workers briefly stopped, and she went inside. But the crew continued, with one using a chainsaw, which prompted another angry response from Norwood, police said.
Peterson tried to intervene, but Norwood would not stop yelling and refused to move, which escalated into her arrest, police said. According to police, the workers were not on Norwood’s property but on the 10-foot easement along the roadway.
She was charged with the misdemeanors and was released on a promise to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on May 2.
