Police said officers arrested a solicitor in the lower Flax Hill area on Friday for soliciting without a permit after a community member reported the solicitor to police. Solicitors are required to wear photo IDs while soliciting, and residents are encouraged to ask solicitors to see their permit before doing any business.

If you see someone soliciting without a permit, you should contact police. Police warn that you should call immediately if a solicitor is aggressive, refuses to leave your property when told to do so, or appears to be acting suspiciously. Call 911 for emergencies or (203) 854-3000 for non-emergencies.
