The robbery occurred at 11:30 a.m. at the bank, located at 700 Connecticut Ave. beside the busy Walmart parking lot, police said. The suspect entered the bank and handed the teller a note that implied she had a gun, according to police.
The suspect is described as a light-skinned black woman in her late 20s or early 30s. She was 5-foot-4 with a stocky build and short black hair pulled behind her neck in a bun or ponytail, police said. She wore black framed glasses and a blue Walmart employee vest.
The bank was closed after the robbery, with police detectives on the scene processing the evidence. No injuries were reported, police said. The presence of police cruisers slowed traffic even more in the busy retail stretch of road.
