Officers were called to Kohl’s after Norbey Calderon-Franco, 32, concealed a pair of Adidas sneakers in his book bag while in the fitting room, police said. He then walked past all points of sale, according to police.

Police said he had cut the security tags off the sneakers with a pair of pliers. The sneakers were priced at $64.99, police said.

Calderon-Franco originally gave officers a fake name, but they were able to determine his real name from an ID card in his wallet, police said.

Calderon-Franco was charged with interfering with an officer, sixth-degree larceny and possession of burglar’s tools. His bond was set at $100 with a court date of May 27, police said.
