STAMFORD, Conn. — Reports of drug dealers using FedEx to ship narcotics recently drew Norwalk police investigators to a FedEx store in Stamford, police said.
The phenomenon of shipping drugs through a parcel delivery service is known as a "dead drop," according to police. The packages are often shipped to a false address, tracked online and then retrieved once they have been delivered, police said.
The police department's Special Services Division and K-9 Unit responded to the store and inspected several packages, according to a Facebook post by the Norwalk Police Department.
Police are asking anyone who may observe suspicious behaviors or who receive a package that does not belong to them to call Norwalk police at 203-854-3070.
