Norwalk Men Charged With Assaulting And Robbing Friend

NORWALK, Conn. — Two Norwalk men were charged with robbing a friend after they were found trying to hide in a basement on Saturday morning, according to the Hour.

The victim told police that he had been hanging out with 30-year-old Anwar Myers and 21-year-old Donald Smith when they went to go buy beer, the Hour reported. The man refused to give the two money, at which point Myers punched him in the face and he gave him $10, the Hour reported. 

The victim left but Myers followed him and punched him, eventually taking a backpack that had a phone, speakers and his wallet in it, according to the Hour. Somebody heard yelling and called the police to report the robbery, at which point officers responded to the area and found the victim bleeding from the face, according to the Hour.

A K-9 was used to search the area, and officers found Myers and Smith hiding in a basement of one of their homes, according to the Hour. They were arrested and charged with third-degree robbery, third-degree assault and conspiracy to commit third-degree robbery, according to the Hour.
