Norwalk Marine Police Patrol Waters For Drunken Boaters

NORWALK, Conn. – The Norwalk Police Department’s Marine Unit is joining a federal and state effort to rid the area’s waterways of drunken boaters.

Called “Operation Dry Water,” the department will have officers patrolling the Norwalk Harbor and Norwalk River specifically on the lookout for boaters under the influence Saturday and Sunday.

Officers were in the harbor area this past weekend on a similar detail. No arrests were made.

Alcohol is the leading contributor in boating accidents and drowning, according to police.
