Members of the Norwalk Police Department and Police Commission gave Michael Golden a Civilian Award last week for his efforts in the September incident. In a Facebook post, police officials said that on Sept. 10, Golden jumped into the water to help Officer Richard Delallo with pulling Edward Brennan to safety.
Brennan had been thrown from his boat and was struggling to stay above water, police officials said. Golden help swim him to the police department's Marine Unit.
"The members of the Norwalk Department of Police Service thank Mr. Golden for his heroic actions on September 10, 2016," reads the Facebook post.
Norwalk Mayor Harry Rilling joined police officials at a meeting Wednesday to present the Civilian Award.
