Norwalk Man Charged With Striking Wife, Neighbor

NORWALK, Conn. – A Norwalk man was accused of strangling and striking his wife and a neighbor during an argument Saturday night, according to police reports.

The victim told police that she and Brian Clarke, 35, of Hamilton Avenue got into an argument Saturday evening after she picked him up from a bar, police said. During the fight, Clarke threw her to the ground, hit her and tried to strangle her, according to the police report. The victim later showed police bruises she suffered during the altercation, police said.

A female neighbor went to the apartment after hearing the fight, and Clarke pushed the woman, she told police. The two victims went to another apartment and locked the door, and Clarke began throwing objects at the door, according to the police report.

Clarke had left the scene when officers arrived, police said. He was arrested early Sunday after he returned to his home, police said.

Clarke was charged with third-degree strangulation, third-degree assault, criminal mischief and disorderly conduct. He was held on $10,000 bond and is due in court Monday.
