Norwalk Man Charged With Punching Ex-Girlfriend

NORWALK, Conn. – A 23-year-old Norwalk man was charged with hitting his ex-girlfriend multiple times Sunday morning and then preventing her from getting out of his car, police reported.

The woman told police that Rafael Aybar-Moriset called her numerous times Saturday night. When she awoke Sunday morning, she said, he was in her driveway on Papp Street. When she went outside to talk to him, police said, he allegedly began yelling at her and punched her on the side of the head, knocking her to the ground.

According to police, the woman suggested they get in Aybar-Moriset’s car so that they were not arguing in public. Once in the car, she told police, he punched her two more times and smashed her face on the center console. According to police, he started driving to his house on Morton Street, allegedly saying he was going to “end this now.” The woman tried to get out of the car several times, but he allegedly kept locking the door, police said. She tried to grab the keys, but he twisted her arm. They parked in front of his house and she ran from the car to nearby witnesses, who drove her back to her home, according to the police report.

Police reported that the woman had red marks on her cheek, her inner right wrist and her knee.

Aybar-Moriset was charged with third-degree assault and disorderly conduct, both misdemeanors, and first-degree unlawful restraint, a felony. He was held on a $7,500 bond and went to court Monday.
