Norwalk Father Struck In Hit-And-Run At Bus Stop

NORWALK, Conn. – A 38-year-old Norwalk father was struck on the leg Thursday morning in a hit-and-run accident on West Rocks Road while he was at the bus stop with his two daughters, police said.

The driver of the red car that hit the man was described as an African-American woman in her 50s, according to police. Witnesses also gave police the license plate number of the vehicle.

Officers attempted to contact the woman Thursday but were unsuccessful in their first attempt.

The accident occurred just before 9 a.m., police said. The man and his daughters were crossing West Rocks Road where the bus had stopped and began flashing its warning lights. The driver made a right turn out of St. Mary’s Lane but ignored the flashing lights, police said.

The driver struck the man, slowed down and then drove off, police said.

“He was able to grab his daughters and get them out of the way in time, but he was hit by the car,” said Lt. Praveen John. The driver could face a fine of more than $450 on a charge of passing a school bus, John said, and could face additional charges related to leaving the scene of an accident with injuries.
