Norwalk Family Displaced By Fire

NORWALK, Conn. – All four members of a Norwalk family escaped injury during a Tuesday night fire but are now homeless, Norwalk Fire Department Deputy Chief Steven Shay said.

Heavy fire was visible at a third floor window at 37 Taylor Ave. after firefighters were called at 8:25 p.m., Shay said. The fire in the three-story building with two apartments was brought under control in about 30 minutes. No injuries were reported.

Both the second and third floors were posted unfit for occupancy. The Red Cross had to relocate the family of four. The residents of the first floor apartment were not dislocated.

The cause of the blaze was under investigation. Three engines, two trucks and the rescue truck responded with 26 firefighters.
