NORWALK, Conn. – A former employee of the Cablevision walk-in center in Norwalk was accused Wednesday of stealing customers’ credit card information, according to police reports.
Residents from Norwalk and Stamford contacted the Norwalk Police Department in August after noticing fraudulent charges on their credit card bills, police said. Both reported that they had visited the Cablevision walk-in center on Cross Street before the charges appeared, according to police reports.
Cablevision’s internal investigators found that both customers had been served by Ciayra Webb, 28, of Bridgeport, police said. Webb’s email records also contained credit card numbers and expiration dates for 10 other customers, according to the investigator’s report.
"We are fully cooperating with the authorities," Cablevision said in a statement released Thursday.
Webb was also seen on video at local restaurants where the fraudulent charges were made, according to police reports. She was taken in for questioning Oct. 11, and admitted to taking the information and making the charges, police said.
Webb turned herself in Wednesday afternoon after learning of a warrant for her arrest. She was charged with two counts each of credit card theft and illegal use of a credit card, and once count each of fourth-degree larceny and sixth-degree larceny. She was released after posting $20,000 bond and is due in court Nov. 15.
