NORWALK, Conn. -- Norwalk firefighters quickly extinguished a blaze in the basement of a home at 14 Shorefront Park early Saturday, fire officials said.
No injuries were reported, Deputy Fire Chief Gino Gatto said in a statement.
Firefighters received a call at 3:13 a.m. of smoke in the basement of the home with smoke alarms sounding, Gatto said. Smoke was visible when firefighters arrived, he said.
The home's occupants were outside the one-and-a-half story wood-frame residential home, he said.
The first floor was checked for fire extension, but none was found, Gatto said.
Inspector Kirk McDonald from the Fire Marshal’s Office was investing the cause.
