Man Struck In Head With 'The Club' During Norwalk Fight

NORWALK, Conn. – A Bridgeport man was struck with a vehicle’s anti-theft device during a fight on Ely Avenue in Norwalk Tuesday evening, according to police reports.

A Norwalk resident told police that he was waiting for a family member outside an Ely Avenue store when he was confronted by a man he knew, police say. The two began a verbal argument, with the Norwalk man’s brother, a Bridgeport resident, joining in, according to the police report.

During the argument the suspect went to his car and pulled out “The Club,” a device used to lock steering wheels to prevent theft, police say. The suspect struck the Bridgeport man twice in the head, leaving gashes and welts, according to the police report.

The victim was taken to Norwalk Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect had been identified, and an arrest is pending, police say.
