Man Robbed Near South Norwalk Train Station

NORWALK, Conn. — A man was robbed near the South Norwalk train station Sunday night, police said.

He was sitting in his car on Henry Street when another man came up and told him he had a gun and to hand over his money, according to police reports. The robber did not actually display the gun, police said. The man in the car handed over $100 to the robber, who took off toward South Main Street.

The victim said the robber was a heavyset black male about 6-feet-3 and bald. He was wearing a blue cutoff shirt and gray velvet pants.

The case was turned over to the Detective Division, which is investigating.

The following was also reported in the Norwalk police blotter:

A Pennsylvania man was charged with leaving his dog locked in a parked car at the Maritime Center.

Police received a call from the parking lot patrol supervisor saying there was a Highland terrier in a van. The windows were rolled up, except for the passenger side front window, which was open about an inch, police said.

Police determined that the temperature inside the car was 105 degrees. The dog was panting heavily, police said. They tried to page the owner inside the aquarium, but were unsuccessful.

Police opened the passenger side of the car. While they were removing the dog they were approached by John Cino, 43, of Hawley, Pa., who said that it was his car. According to police, Cino said he had left the dog, Fin, in the car for about an hour, and that he had done it in the past without any issue.

The dog was taken into the shade. Police checked on him and determined that there would be no long-term health effects. Cino was given a summons for cruelty to animals.
