Man Charged With Choking Woman Over Text Messages In Norwalk

NORWALK, Conn. — A Bridgeport man tried to choke a female victim after he demanded to know who she was texting, Norwalk police said.

The woman had traveled to Bridgeport to pick up Dwayne Leak, 28, and a child on Feb. 27, police said. When she arrived home in Norwalk, she texted an unidentified individual, police said.

Leak demanded to know who she was texting and became angry, police said. The altercation turned physical as he pushed and struck the female victim with open and closed fists, police said.

The victim tried to defend herself, but Leak grabbed her by the neck and started choking her, police said. She sustained minor visible scratches from the incident, police said.

The child was present during the altercation, police said.

Leak was arrested on a warrant stemming from the incident Wednesday morning and charged with third-degree strangulation, risk of injury and impairing the morals of a minor, criminal violation of a protective order, disorderly conduct and third-degree assault, police said.


Leak’s bond was set at $50,000. His court date is March 31, police said.
