Police were responding to the scene of a fight on Lexington Avenue at around 12:31 a.m. Friday, according to the Hour. A man told police he had told a group of people playing soccer to quiet down when they surrounded him and one of them threw a rock at him while another pepper sprayed him, the Hour reported.
Police told the Hour that when officers arrived on scene to separate the group, they saw 36-year-old Pablo Gomez nearby, leaning against a car and watching. When he was told to leave, he took out his phone and started recording, the Hour reported.
Officers told him several times to move, adding that he would be arrested if he didn't, police told the Hour. He still refused, and when officers approached him, he got in a scuffle with them, during which one of the officers sustained minor injuries, the Hour reported.
Gomez was charged with assault on a police officer and interfering with an officer. His bond was set at $25,000.
