A second platoon patrol officer observed a car on Ely Avenue on Tuesday and recognized the license plate as belonging to that of a stolen car, police said. The officer followed the stolen car into a driveway as other officers arrived to assist.

The person driving the car got out and took off on foot, attempting to escape police. Officers were able to quickly take the suspect into custody, and the suspect was arrested on multiple charges including first-degree larceny and interfering. The identity of the suspect was not disclosed, because the suspect is a juvenile, police said.

Police said that the car was originally taken from Norwalk several days ago after being left unlocked with the keys inside. Police are once again imploring Norwalk residents to lock their cars, close all windows, and remove all valuables.
