Drug Bust Made In Traffic Stop Of Mercedes In Norwalk

NORWALK, Conn. -- A Norwalk man was arrested on a litany of drug charges Saturday after police pulled him over on motor vehicle violations and found crack, heroin and packaging materials, according to police.

At around 7:24 p.m. on Saturday, the Norwalk Police Department Strategic Narcotics Enforcement Team saw a Mercedes commit several motor vehicle violations and pulled it over on Henry Street, according to police. Officers could smell the heavy odor of marijuana coming from the car, police said.

The driver, 38 year-old Michael Dawson, was found to be driving with a suspended license and was arrested, police said.

Police said a search of the car and Dawson turned up 7.5 grams of crack, 10.7 grams of heroin, 19 additional bags of heroin, 2.3 grams of cocaine, drug packaging materials, a scale and $260. Police also seized Dawson's car.

Dawson was charged with possession with intent to sell narcotics, possession of narcotics within 1,500 feet of a school, possession of narcotics, possession of narcotics within 1,500 feet of a school with intent to sell, possession of drug paraphernalia, interfering, and multiple motor vehicle charges. Bond was set at $100,000.
