CT State Police Call Off Second Vehicle Alert For Boston Bombing Suspect

Update 3:20 p.m.: Boston bombing suspect captured alive, news agencies reported.

Both Connecticut and Massachusetts State Police have called off the search for the green Honda Civic.

According to NBC Connecticut, the car is in police custody but was mistakenly identified for the alert. The search for Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev continues to be focused in Massachusetts in the Watertown area.

Original story: FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. – Connecticut State Police issued a new vehicle alert Friday afternoon for a car that could possibly contain Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev.

Police described the car as a 1999 green Honda Civic with a Massachusetts license plate number 116 GC7.

The search for Tsarnaev had been concentrated in the Watertown, Mass. area, but state police said the department was notified by Boston police that the new vehicle could be a possible get-away car.

“Connecticut Troopers are posted strategically in our State and continue to communicate with Massachusetts authorities,” said the department in a statement.
