Selma Yackulics, 92, Formerly Of Norwalk

NORWALK, Conn. – Selma Ryba Yackulics, a former longtime Norwalk resident, died Jan. 30. She was 92.

Yackulics was born Nov. 3, 1920, in Stamford to Francis Ryba and Stephanie Ryba. She was married to William Emery Yackulics, who predeceased her. She moved to Westport several years ago to live with her daughter.

At the age of 68, Yackulics started working as an office manager for the Coastal Fairfield County Convention & Visitor Bureau at the Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum in Norwalk. She received Norwalk's Most Valuable Person Award for her work in promoting tourism in Norwalk.

Yackulics is survived by a daughter, Carol Leahy, of Westport; a brother, Henry Ryba, of Greenwich; and two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two siblings, Mary Romsky and Rudy Ryba.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Philip Church in Norwalk. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery in Norwalk. There are no visiting hours. Magner Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
