NORWALK, Conn. – Ruth W. Robinson Dunphy of Norwalk died Nov. 4 at Fairfield Health of Greenwich. She was 79.
Born June 18, 1933, to Willis and Vivian Robinson, she was raised in Norwalk. Dunphy attended Norwalk public schools and later moved to Rockville, Md., where she raised her family. Dunphy and her husband then returned to Norwalk, where she lived the rest of her life.
She was a member of the United Church of Rowayton and a past member of the East Avenue Methodist Church. She served on the board of The Kingdom Refuge Ministry, and her hobbies included swimming, fishing and boating.
Dunphy is survived by three sons, David May, of Norwalk, Kenneth (Wanda) May, of Trenton, S.C., and Larry (Jenny) May, of Deerwood, Md.; two stepdaughters, Carol (Peter) Longdaue, of Argyle, N.Y., and Bonnie (Lain) Davis, of Nashua, N.H.; 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Richard P. Dunphy; two brothers, Howard and Lawrence Robinson; and a sister, Eileen Felter.
Dunphy is also survived by a brother, Robert (Susan) Robinson, of Greene, N.Y.; two sisters-in-law, Joan and Winnie Robinson; and a brother-in-law, Alfred Felter.
Burial will be private. A celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, at the United Church of Rowayton. Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home and Crematory in Norwalk is handling arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to East Avenue Methodist Church, United Church of Rowayton or The Kingdom Refuge Ministry.
