Richard Bartoli, 68, Former Norwalk Business Owner

NORWALK, Conn. – Richard J. Bartoli of Norwalk died Dec. 7 at Norwalk Hospital with family by his side. He was 68.

Born Feb. 3, 1944, in Norwalk, he was the son of Gilda and Frank Bartoli. Raised in Norwalk, Bartoli attended local schools. He attended Carson Long Military Academy and graduated from Brien McMahon High School in 1962, the first graduating class.

He also graduated from McAllister School of Mortuary Sciences in New York City and began his career with Magner Funeral Home as an embalmer and funeral director. After his father’s retirement, he worked in the family business, Bartoli Electric on Knight Street, for 38 years before selling it in 2006.

In his retirement, Bartoli joined Norm Bloom and Son, where he began and ran the Bloom’s website. Throughout his career, he was active in the Rotary Club, where served as its president, as well as with the Laurel Club, Master Builders, Norwalk Shellfish Commission, Building Board of Appeals, Norwalk Chamber of Commerce and Connecticut chapter of NECA.

Bartoli is survived by his wife, Claire; a daughter, Anne Marie (L. Roger) Silva; a brother-in-law, Joseph Delia; a sister-in-law, Louise (Raymond) Gagnon; and many nieces and nephews. He predeceased by a brother, Frank "Bart" Bartoli; and a sister, Grace Bartoli Delia.

Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Magner Funeral Home in Norwalk. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Matthew's Church in Norwalk. Burial will be at St. John's Cemetery in Norwalk.
