Jackson Sydnor, Norwalk Native, Dies At 74

NORWALK, Conn. -- Jackson Sydnor, a Norwalk native and longtime Peekskill, N.Y. resident died Monday, Aug. 14, after a short illness. He was 74.

Sydnor enjoyed playing cards, taking walks and, last but not least, dancing and being the life of the party.

Born in Norwalk on June 28, 1943, Sydnor was raised in Yonkers, N.Y. and was predeceased by his parents, Thomas, Sr. and Lillian (Jackson), and a brother, Thomas, Jr.

He is survived by his life partner Bernice Hull; sisters Mary (Dennis) Fields, Stephanie Smith, Marva Petrus and Claudette (William) Alston; brothers, Norvell (Willander) Sydnor and Lloyd (Hyang) Sydnor; and brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and an uncle, Lloyd Jackson.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, Sept. 10. at 4 p.m. at Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church., 648 Harrison Ave, Peekskill, N.Y.
