NORWALK, Conn. Henry Alfred Bittner, a former Norwalk resident, died July 2 at Tidelands Hospice House in Georgetown, S.C. He was 91.
Born in Norwalk, he was the son of Henry Francis and Julia Bittner. A World War II veteran, Bittner served in Normandy on D-Day and in Japan. He retired as a baker from Pepperidge Farm. He enjoyed golfing, making models and reading.
Bittner is survived by his wife of 65 years, Alice Bittner, of Murrells Inlet, S.C.; two daughters, Kathleen Dwyer Coppola and husband Bob of Norwalk, and Karen Ringwood and husband Robert of Kensington; and two grandsons.
Goldfinch Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Burial at Arlington National Cemetery will be held at a later date.
