NORWALK, Conn. – Gonzalo Julio "Chalo" Rojas, Sr., 73, of Norwalk, died Tuesday, Nov. 3.
Chalo was born May 27, 1942, in San Juan de Tibas, San Jose, Costa Rica, the son of the late Camillo and Maria Soto Rojas.
He worked for many years as a machinist, first with Perkin Elmer then the Norwalk Company and PDC International. He was an avid soccer player and also organized traditional Latin-American dances locally.
Survivors include Chalo's children, Rosemary, Josephine, Gonzalo Julio, Jr., Kimberly Anne, Michael, Jose Gonzalo and Kevin; nine grandchildren; his former wife Rosa Rivera Rojas; four siblings; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his brother Camillo.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 6 p.m. Friday at St. Philip Church, 25 France St., Norwalk. There are no visiting hours.
