NORWALK, Conn. -- George Papadopoulos, a resident of Norwalk, died Sunday, May 22. He was 65.
Born on Jan. 25,1951, in Mesovouno, Kozani, Greece, he was the son of Kyriaki Chatzioannidou Papadopoulosthe and Lazaros Papadopoulos.
He grew up in Greece and moved to the U.S. with his family in 1974. A resident of Norwalk, he worked at Hicks and Otis of Norwalk for over 30 years. He was also a successful musician and played several instruments while a member of a Greek band along with his brother and father.
He is survived by his mother; sons Elia and Lazaros Papadopoulos of Norwalk; brother Kostantinos Papadopoulos of Norwalk; and nephews Lazaros Papadopoulos and Vlasios Papadopoulos, both of Norwalk.
He was predeceased by his father, Lazaros; and sister-in-law, Sofia Papadopoulos.
Funeral services will take place on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 238 W. Rocks Road, Norwalk. Interment will follow at St. John's Cemetery, 223 Richards Ave., Norwalk.
