Garland 'Bud' Howard, 89, Norwalk Business Owner

NORWALK, Conn. – Garland "Bud" Howard of Norwalk died July 5 at Notre Dame Convalescent Home. He was 89. 

Howard was the owner of A & B Aluminum Products in Norwalk.  

Born March 24, 1923, in Crewe, Va., he was the son of Julia Stewart Stoots. Howard served with the 82nd Airborne Division in North Africa, Italy and Normandy during World War II. He was awarded Bronze Stars, the World War II Victory Medal and Combat Infantry Badge. He also served with the Merchant Marines in Vietnam. 

Howard was predeceased by three sisters, Julia, Norma and Margaret. He is survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. 

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Monday at Notre Dame Convalescent Home in Norwalk. Burial with military honors will followed at the Connecticut Veterans" Cemetery in Middletown. Collins Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Notre Dame Convalescent Home.
