Donald J. Cheh, 76, Worked For Ibew, #208 In Rowayton

SOUTHBURY, Conn. - Donald Joseph Cheh of Southbury, formerly a 42-year resident of Bethel, died Monday, Oct. 27. He was 76.

Cheh was born Jan. 10, 1938, in Norwalk, to Joseph and Sonia Dutka Cheh. He grew up in Rowayton and Norwalk. He was a member of the Rowayton Fire Department and worked for 42 years with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, #208, where he served on the executive board and the negotiating committee. He was a member of the Newtown Fish and Game Club, the South Norwalk Boat Club and was also a founding member of the Candlewood Valley Pop Warner football in Bethel, since its inception in 1967.

Moving to Heritage Village in 2003, he loved his retirement years there. He served on various committees and served on the Board of Directors for the River Garden Club making many new friends. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Southbury.

Cheh is survived by his wife, Maryellen; sons, Kevin (Alison) of Oxford, Keith (Patricia) of Newtown; four grandchildren; sister, Linda Essig (Ray) of Hohokus, N.J.; sister, Elaine Cheh of Norwalk; brother, Joseph Cheh (Pamela) of Brookfield; and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; and grandson, Michael.

Calling hours are Monday, Nov. 10 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at chapel, Sacred Heart Church, 910 Main St. South, Southbury. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, Nov. 10 at Sacred Heart Church at 11 a.m.
