Gelfand was born July 8, 1967, in Livingston, N.J., where he was raised. He spent 20 years in West Palm Beach, Fla., before moving to Norwalk in 2010. He attended the Juilliard School and played the trumpet in a number of ensembles over the years.
He is survived by his wife, Lillie Gelfand; two children, Elizabeth and Colleen; his mother, Joan Gelfand, of Boca Raton, Fla.; a brother, Barry Gelfand, of New York City; and a granddaughter. He was predeceased by his father, Leonard Gelfand.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Leo P. Gallagher and Son Funeral Home in Stamford.
