The incident occurred in Norwalk around 11:50 a.m., Sunday, March 31 A Norwalk man was arrested on gun and narcotics charges while driving around
Naud Rodriguez, of Norwalk, was charged after a Norwalk Police officer pulled him over for driving with an unsecured baby on his lap, said Sgt. Ryan Evarts of the Norwalk Police.
When the officer spoke to Rodriguez he noticed there was no baby seat in the vehicle and a strong smell of marijuana, Evarts said.
A search of the car led to the discovery of .762 pounds of marijuana and a Sig Sauer P365 loaded handgun, he added.
Rodriguez was charged with:
- Illegal possession of a weapon in a vehicle
- Negligent storage of a firearm
- Risk of injury to a child
- Illegal transfer of child-front seat restraint
- Possession of narcotics with intent to sell
- Use of drug paraphernalia.
He was held on a $250,000 bond and is set to appear in court on Monday, April 15.
