Senator Bob Duff and Representative Chris Perone were among the attendees at today's Western Connecticut Convention and Visitors Bureau event at The Maritime Aquarium, which also attracted professionals from area hotels and cultural institutions.
The CVB formed in response to Fairfield County's recent state-mandated merger with Northwest CT to form the Western Connecticut region, a move that coincided with drastic cuts to CT's tourism budget. Chairman of the Board of Directors Dan Bolognani explained that the CVB's purpose was to work on finding cost-effective ways to market the combined area, which is heavily dependent on tourist dollars, without sacrificing the character of individual towns. Methods will include electronic newsletter and press releases, social networking, and virtual driving tours for downloading on to handheld devices (road trips just got easier!).
