FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. Full power may not be restored to all of Connecticut until next week, Connecticut Light & Power CEO Jeffrey Butler said late Wednesday afternoon during a news conference with Gov. Dannel Malloy.
"The issue in Connecticut right now is power,'' Malloy said from the State Armory in Hartford on Wednesday. "Power. Power. Power.'' More than 300,000 CL&P customers statewide were without power Wednesday night.
Butler said the company is looking at full restoration by next Wednesday. Crews, management and personnel from Western Massachusetts Electric Co. are being called in to help with restoration efforts in the state.
"We understand their frustration," Butler said of the customers in Connecticut who have been without power since Hurricane Irene blew through the state last weekend.
CL&P estimates full power will be restored to Norwalk, Westport, Weston, Wilton, Redding and New Canaan by 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6. For Darien and Stamford, the company expects full power to be restored by 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 3. Full power in Greenwich is expected by 11:30 p.m. Saturday. The last part of the state expected to be restored is the Newtown-Danbury area.
