Two Men Killed in Merritt Crash Identified

NORWALK, Conn. – The two men who died on Norwalk’s section of the Merritt Parkway early Saturday morning have been identified. Connecticut State Police gave their names as Jason E. McKinney, 26, of 16 Hawthorne Drive, Norwalk, and Jeffrey Hinton, 22, of 47 Houston Terr., Stamford.

Hinton was driving McKinney’s 2002 Toyota Camry in the southbound lane of the parkway, near exit 40A, at Main Avenue, at about 12:20 a.m., police said.  He lost control of the vehicle on a downhill curve, veered off the road and hit the center median guard rail. The Camry slid along the guard rail and became airborne, striking a tree.

Both men were pronounced dead at the scene. McKinney was wearing a seat belt, but Hinton was not. Neither airbag deployed.
