The two were arrested on Wednesday, Feb. 5, for an incident that took place on Jan. 16, said Lt. Jared Zwickler with the Norwalk Police Department.

According to police, the incident took place when two juveniles approached the victim who was walking on Academy Street and grabbed the victim from behind and attempted to steal items while the other juvenile displayed a handgun.

The victim, who was not injured, was able to fight the juveniles and leave the area.

The Special Victims Unit assumed the investigation and Det. Patrick English conducted interviews and obtained statements that ultimately led to the arrest of both juveniles.

The handgun was recovered by the Norwalk Police Department during a separate incident involving the two juveniles on the evening of Jan. 17, Zwicker said.

The handgun was found to be a facsimile firearm.

Both juveniles were charged with criminal attempt to commit robbery and released to their parents.
